A structure fire on Reese Court in Libby Saturday afternoon destroyed a home and left four pets dead.

According to Libby Volunteer Fire Chief Steve Lauer, the people who lived there were able to escape the blaze. But one dog and three cats perished in the fire. A pickup truck was also severely damaged.

Seventeen LVFD firefighters responded to put out the blaze that threatened nearby residences and had the potential to burn downhill toward Flower Creek Road.

Fire crews were joined by Libby Volunteer Ambulance and Flathead Electric.

Lauer said the fire was under investigation.

According to a GoFundMe to support the victim, a single mother in Libby lost her home, vehicle and all of her pets in a devastating house fire on Sept. 19. Stormy Miller says she and her son face the urgent task of finding housing, replacing her vehicle so she can get to work and recovering critical documents. 

"While I am usually very stubborn about asking for help, the shock of all of this has left me at a complete loss for what steps to take next," Miller wrote. "More than anything, I am just hoping for a safe place for us, reliable transportation and some sense of normalcy again after losing so much so suddenly."
