Assistant manager takes helm at local Department of Labor office

Veteran assistant manager Vicki Isakson has been named manager of the Idaho Department of Labor's Kootenai County office in Post Falls.

Isakson will take over from Jo Ann Edmiston, who is retiring July 18 after more than 26 years with the department.

Isakson, a graduate of Lewis-Clark State College, joined the department 20 years ago, working in every capacity in the Kootenai County office before being named assistant manager in 2004.

She serves on a number of boards and committees in the area served by the office.

Gabriel elected president of

Idaho Fire Chiefs Association

Coeur d'Alene Fire Chief Kenny Gabriel was recently elected to serve as president of the Idaho Fire Chiefs Association at its Pocatello conference.

As president, Gabriel will represent fire departments across Idaho. The primary objective of the association is to improve career and voluntary emergency services through leadership, collaboration, education, safety, information and representation.

The president's term is for two years.

He also helped secure the partnership with North Idaho College to start the Firefighter I and EMT programs, the city said.

Gabriel has been the city's chief since 2000.

Woodworth hired as broker for Helbling Employee Benefits

Mark Woodworth was hired as a broker for Helbling Employee Benefits.

He has been in the medical, life and disability industry for more than 16 years in Idaho and Washington.

During that time, he most recently spent five years as a sales executive with Regence BlueShield of Idaho.

Woodworth is one of 25,000 registered health underwriters (RHU) in a field of more than one million insurance professionals throughout the U.S.

He also serves on the board of the North Idaho Association of Health Underwriters.

Cd'A Chamber of Commerce to host spring membership blitz

The Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce will host its spring membership blitz and will be offering special incentives for any business joining during the week.

"We normally have a one-time only sign up fee of $30 that we collect when we bring in a new member," said Marilee Wallace, membership development director. "During the blitz, that fee will be waived."

New members will also receive a free display table at the chamber's monthly general membership meeting (Upbeat Breakfast), and an "enhanced web" listing on www.cdachamber.com.

Membership in the chamber starts at $295 per year.

Area land-planning, landscape architectural firms complete merger

Two Coeur d'Alene-Spokane area land-planning and landscape architectural firms recently completed a merger to form a new firm called Verdis.

E2 planning and design, in Coeur d'Alene, and Abbotswood Design Group, in both Spokane and Coeur d'Alene, completed the merger in March.

E2 principals include Sandy Young, a former Kootenai County senior planner, and Gary Young, a former community development director for the city of Post Falls and Kootenai County Hearing Examiner. Sandy and Gary Young are Coeur d'Alene residents.

Abbotswood Design Group principal is Fred Ogram of Hayden.

The new firm has eight employees and two offices and serves clients throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The two addresses are 602 E. Garden Ave., in Coeur d'Alene, and 308 W. First Ave., in Spokane.
