Superior fire was human-caused

SUPERIOR — A fire that has burned nearly 10 square miles north of Superior was human-caused.
Officials with the West Mullan Fire said Tuesday that the fire that started on July 14 was human-caused, but no further information was released.
Firefighters strengthened fire lines along the entire perimeter of the fire on Tuesday, while on Wednesday they planned to set some fires to strengthen the line along the northeast flank of the fire. The fire was considered 60 percent contained on Tuesday evening.
There was some fire activity in the northeast corner of the blaze, while other unburned areas within the fire’s perimeter were smoldering.
Some firefighters and equipment were being released.
The estimated cost of fighting the fire is up to $7.2 million.
