Cabinet Peaks Medical Center has tapped Libby resident Lacey Poirer as its new infection prevention and employee health nurse.

Poirer has spent the past three years working as a member of the nursing team at the local medical center. She began her career as a floating certified nursing assistant in a hospital setting while finishing nursing school.

During her career, she’s worked in various hospital departments, including neurosurgery, dermatology and plastic surgery. She moved to Montana after earning her bachelor’s in nursing in 2018.

“I hold my BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications,” Poirer said in a statement. “I am excited to work as the Infection Prevention and Employee Health RN and help lead employee education.”

Poirer said she expected COVID-19 would dominate her workload in the immediate future. She said that she hoped to emphasize in-person education on infection prevention in the coming months.

“COVID-19 has been and will remain the hottest topic in education and infection control,” she said in a statement. “Although, that will continue to be at the forefront I am hopeful that we can re-introduce educational opportunities outside of webinars and Zoom calls. It is important for staff to fine-tune skills and we hope to provide a renewed atmosphere for learning.”
