Imagine the sensation of flying through the air. But nothing but a gut instinct. Driving you towards an unknown destination.
00:00:28:04 - 00:00:45:00
You don't know where the sensation comes from or how it comes to you. But it is the engine never ending. Pushing to complete your journey. This is the extraordinary life of a honeybee.
00:00:45:02 - 00:01:15:08
On the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene, an incredible population of bees is flourishing. Bees lie at the heart of our survival. They pollinate 1 in 3 bites of food we eat and 80% of the world's flowering plants. These precious pollinators are essential to the health and prosperity of countless ecosystems. And with the support and care of John Eloe, the master beekeeper at the Coeur d'Alene Resort.
00:01:15:10 - 00:01:32:12
These bees are providing some sweet gifts to the local community.
00:01:32:14 - 00:02:23:03
As part of the Honey Bee Project, the quarterly resort has multiple locations where they maintain their hives. This community garden is one of the offsite locations where John Eloe provides these bees. The support they need to produce honey that the Resort sells. It's early summer and John is overseeing these hives. Established the Queen and her. Once you do this, the workers will begin the magical adventure seeking out pollinating flowers and bringing nectar back to kickstart the process of creating their beautifully sweet honey.
00:03:11:17 - 00:03:51:19
After a short summer. And the bees have done their jobs. Now it's time for the humans to do theirs. John takes the hard earned products that the honey bees have produced and brings them back to begin spinning. This process delicately removes the honey from the combs and distributes it into vats to be collected for bottling. Later.
00:04:05:11 - 00:04:24:04
Once the honey has been spun and collected, John and his team begin the bottling process. And like everything else, it's done by hand.
00:04:24:06 - 00:04:55:10
After a lot of hard work, the process has completed for now. It's won't be long before the winter has come and gone. And this beautiful relationship between humans and bees continues. Until next year.
