ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kai Leavitt, Sandpoint Swimming

This week's Athlete of the Week is Kai Leavitt of Sandpoint Swimming.

A senior, Kai placed second in the 50 free in a new school record time of 21.84 seconds and was a part of the Bulldogs' winning 200 free relay that finished in a new school and state record time of 1 minute, 29.74 seconds in the prelims — 1 minute, 30.35 seconds in the finals — to help Sandpoint to another 5A State Championship title. The standout swimmer was also third in the 100 fly (54.08) and a part of the Bulldogs' gold-medal 400 free relay (3:20.50; 3:20.64), which also broke a school record.
