CLARK FORK — The Clark Fork junior-senior high trap shooting team, 11 members strong, recently concluded a short five-week fall season competing in the Idaho State High School Clay Target League, which included a second-place team finish at a North Idaho finale tournament.

In Class 1A Conference 1 season standings, Emma Dignan brought home a third-place state medal in the female novice division after shooting to a season average of 14.40 and a reserve week score of 27. Overall, the Wampus Cats were sixth out of seven teams in the conference with a total score of 356.50 (75.5-89-70-60.5-61.5). The conference includes Marsing, which won the fall season, Bonners Ferry, Middleton, Lewiston, Nampa Christian and Greenleaf Friends Academy.

At the North Idaho finale tournament, Clark Fork met Lewiston once again, and also faced off against Class 1A Conference 2 opponents Kootenai, Timberlake and hosts St. Maries. It was there that the Wampus Cats came away with a second-place team trophy and five individual medals. Clark Fork's Kyler Heilman took second in the male junior varsity division, Dignan and Coly DaVault were first in the female and male novice divisions, respectively, and Colter Noble placed second in the male novice division, Thompson third in that same division to round out the Wampus Cats' top performances.

"As the 2025 season comes to an end, I reflect back on how impressed I am with these student-athletes," Clark Fork coach Travis Heilman said. "This is a game of perfection and mental toughness, and the athletes showed impressive growth. Additionally, thank you to the families that supported these athletes and the team all season. You are truly the best. Also, a special thank you to our sponsors: Sandpoint Gun Club, Clark Fork VFW, Clark Fork Beverage, and the NRA Foundation."
