It was hot as the proverbial firecracker in Polson over the weekend, especially on the makeshift asphalt basketball courts set up for the 12th Annual Flathead Lake Hoopfest.

Although the Friday evening deck collapse at the Diamond Horseshoe Lounge and Grill was responsible for some of the eight adult teams not showing up for play Saturday morning, there was still plenty of competitive action throughout the weekend.

Hundreds of hoops players, along with their friends and families, swarmed over the four blocks of Main Street and several side streets closed down for the annual event.

The tournament was spread over 550 games, plus three-point and slam dunk competitions from Friday night through Sunday afternoon.

"People love to come to this tournament … everyone has a great time," Hoopfest volunteer Toni Young said.
