Douglas Campbell McLean, 78, passed away at his Glengary home in a house fire on Dec. 8, 2005.

Memorial services will be scheduled in the spring.

Douglas was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on July 9, 1927, the son of Stuart and Marie McLean. He graduated from Sandpoint High School and served with the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1956.

He received his bachelor of science degree from Cal Tech in Pasadena, Calif., and later his master's degree from the University of Idaho.

He lived at Glengary near Sandpoint and taught physics at North Idaho College. In 1984, he retired after teaching for nearly 20 years. He was always interested in the sciences.

He enjoyed having his family visit and share the pleasures of Lake Pend Oreille.

He is survived by a brother, John McLean of Sequim, Wash.; a sister, Peggy Galusha of Oregon City, Ore; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald.

Final arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
