Vera C. Peacock, 94, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Prestige Assisted Living in Kalispell.

Vera was born on a farm in Sheridan County, Mont., near the town of Raymond on Dec. 14, 1910. Vera was the daughter of Oscar and Vera Collins. She attended school in Plentywood and graduated from St. John Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo, N.D., in 1932, and worked in the nursing field until her retirement.

After her husband's retirement from the U.S. Army in the early 1960s, they moved to Whitefish. She was a resident of Whitefish until 1995, when she moved to Kalispell, where she resided at Buffalo Hill Terrace Apartments, and from 1998 at Prestige Assisted Living.

She was a member of the O.E.S. No. 66, Daughter of the Nile Tirzal Temple No. 3, North Valley Hospital Auxiliary and the Soroptimist Club.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Cortez A. 'Cort' Peacock; two brothers, Joseph J. and Dr. Griffith G. Collins; four sisters, Helen Rosmussen, Ruth O'Malley, Kathryn Smith, and Nettie Collins; and her son, Roger Allan Peacock.

Vera is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marie Peacock; three granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to North Valley Hospital Auxiliary, 6575 U.S. 93 S., Whitefish, MT 59937; or to the Soroptimist Club, P.O. Box 1843, Whitefish, MT 59937.

Memorial services for Vera will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Prestige Assisted Living, with Jerry Schreck officiating.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
