Vehicles in Guffin Eccles area targeted

MOSES LAKE — Several car windows in one area of town suffered BB damage over the weekend.

It was the first BB damage in a few weeks for Moses Lake, which saw a rash of BB vandalism along city streets beginning in early November.

Vehicles parked in the Guffin Eccles area of Moses Lake were the primary ones damaged, but one car reportedly was hit while parked on Stratford Road. The Moses Lake Police Department responded to Cascade Avenue, Lakeside Drive and Rose Avenue after incidents reportedly happened to several vehicles late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

No incidents were reported after Saturday, leading the MLPD to believe it was an isolated incident. MLPD Captain Jim Jenkins said reports from at least one of the incidents would classify as felony malicious mischief, with damage to the windows exceeding $250.

Jenkins said it was not clear whether this incident was related to the previous incidents throughout November, when dozens of business owners reported their windows being shot at by BB gun vandals. The Moses Lake City Council offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects in those incidents.
