The Kalispell City Council will vote tonight on a proposal to begin negotiating with Wells Fargo Bank to buy the bank'd5s main downtown building.

'The anticipation is that it will probably become an expansion for City Hall,' Mayor Pam Kennedy said.

She stressed the deal is in its infancy. The city and bank have not yet discussed prices for the building at 201 First Avenue East, she said.

Wells Fargo Community Bank President Steve Clawson said he would have details on the bank'd5s relocation next week.

The item is on the consent agenda, meaning the council intends to authorize negotiations without discussion unless a council member asks to remove it from the consent agenda so members can talk about it.

The council also will look at:

Authorizing a contracted company to develop a system for the city to charge impact fees for growth-related costs, such as the impact new construction has on roads due to increased traffic.

Approving city payment for part of the cost of a new lift station on Three Mile Drive. The developers would pay for their share of the cost and the city would chip in extra money to add capacity that would be available for future growth.

Awarding a $1.2 million contract to Schellinger Construction for resurfacing the runways at the Kalispell City Airport.

An amendment to the preliminary plat for several phases of Empire Estates, which will include converting 21 single-family lots to 34 townhouse lots on 18 acres at the northeast corner of Three Mile Drive and Stillwater Road.

The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
