Stanley Lee Dye, 84, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at the Edgewood Vista residence in Kalispell.

He was born in Picher, Okla., on Feb. 4, 1921, the son of Loren Ellis and Mary Frances Dye.

He married Lucille R. Morgan of Anaconda on Oct. 4, 1941, in Spokane. She preceded him in death.

They had two daughters, Sarah (nee Sandra) and Eric Oscarson of Kennewick, Wash., and Paula and Stuart Barb of Elkhart, Ind. His grandchildren are Jennifer and Tim Atkins of Rossford, Ohio, Dr. Matthew and Cathy Barb of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Adam Barb of Durham, N.C. Great-grandchildren are Andrew and Peter Atkins, and Alexander and Aubrey Barb.

Mr. Dye served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s in western Wyoming.

He served in the Philippines in the U.S. Army during World War II as a warrant officer in the Signal Corps.

He was employed for many years with the Graybar Electric Company as a branch manager and national sales manager. He lived in Billings, Butte, Seattle, Portland, Ore., Stamford, Conn., Atlanta and St. Davids, Pa., during his years with Graybar. He retired to Whitefish in 1975.

After retirement, Mr. Dye served as a Small Business Administration counselor and on local governmental boards.

He was a lifelong Mason from 1943, with additional membership in the Scottish Rite and Mystic Shrine of North America. He was an avid golfer, member of the Whitefish Country Club, fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed hiking and cross-country skiing.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the First Presbyterian Church, 301 S. Central Ave., in Whitefish.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the First Presbyterian Church or the North Valley Food Bank.
