MOSES LAKE — Big Bend Community College hosted a crossover volleyball tournament Friday and Saturday that included participants from all over Washington state.

In their first match, Big Bend was pitted against Bellevue Community College and fell 30-25, 23-30, 29-31, 22-30.

The Lady Vikes lost in three games in their second match against Lower Columbia Community College 32-34, 30-32, 29-31.

The match began with the Lady Vikes coming out tough.

Big Bend was ahead for most of the first game.

Alona Lyamin, Kelsey Jones, and Cisca Moore were hitting well at the net for the Lady Vikes.

Moore swung from the outside, her spikes covering cross-court angles that Lower Columbia had trouble returning early on.

Lindsay Idler made her presence known at the net, as well. She blocked well through the game and had some screaming hits that were unstoppable.

However, the early lead the Lady Vikes had slowly diminished as the game wore on.

The solid serving from Big Bend late in the game was not enough to off-set the final rally from Lower Columbia.

Lower Columbia served out the first game for a win.

The Lady Vikes continued to battle through the rest of the match but were never able to break the final barrier to give them the win.

In their final match-up of the weekend, the Lady Vikes took on Spokane Community College and were defeated 25-30, 23-30, 31-29, 22-30.

Clackamas Community College won the tournament after defeating Bellevue, who had led the tournament early, 30-24, 30-18, 30-22.

Kelsey Jones of Big Bend was named one of the tournament all-stars.

The Lady Vikes play their final league match against Columbia Basin Community College Wednesday at 6 p.m.
