MOSES LAKE — The Big Bend Community College women's basketball team defeated their first opponent at home Tuesday.

The Lady Vikes took on the Whitworth JV team and walloped them 100-52.

"Offensively we were very good," said head coach Craig Randall.

Big Bend was able to keep Whitworth on it's heels after a slow start.

"It took a few minutes for us to get our wind after the long weekend," said Randall. "We were much better in the second half."

The Lady Vikes played lose, run and gun ball during the game and were able to pick up boards on the defensive end to contribute to the win.

Leading the team in scoring was Calli Jo Turner with 20 for the night. She was closely followed by Jenna Ball and Kari Darnell who had 15 apiece.

Big Bend shot 60.9 percent overall, had 30 points off the bench and 35 off turnovers.

"It was about what you expect for a first home game," said Randall. "We still have a long way to go."
