Earl R. Burger, 89, of Libby died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

He was born June 17, 1916.

He had worked for the railroad for a few years, before going to operate heavy equipment in construction. He not only learned to run the big machines, he also learned to work on them. He worked construction for many years.

He married Pearl Erickson on June 19, 1949 in Sioux Falls, S.D. They moved to Libby in 1985.

Survivors include his wife Pearl of Libby, sons Linnis Burger of Libby, LeRoy Burger and wife Elaine of Boise, Idaho, four daughters Sylvia of Sioux Falls, S.D., Karen; Audrey Embler and husband Lee of Deer Park, Wash., Anette of Mission, Texas.

Services will be Thursday, April 6, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Libby Christian Church. Local arrangements are by the Nelson and Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
