Shaun Alexander Foundation to hold benefit at ATEC

MOSES LAKE — The Shaun Alexander Foundation, in conjunction with Ultimate Warrior Christian Ministries, will be holding a charity dinner and auction in Moses Lake April 29 beginning at 4 p.m.

Shaun Alexander will be on hand to pose for photos with those in attendance.

"We have been trying to put this together for two years," said organizer A. Mike Keyes. "I'm a friend of Shaun's and I love what he does with young people through the foundation."

The proceeds from the event will be split between Keyes' Ultimate Christian Warrior Ministries, a program that helps needy families in the Basin, and the Shaun Alexander Foundation whose primary goal is to "empower young men through education, athletics, character programs, and leadership training" according to their Web site.

Keyes' organization provides various charity services, most notably giving away 20 Thanksgiving dinners and adopting 10 families during the Christmas season.

"I have four part-time people who work for me out of the goodness of their own hearts, they all have other full-time jobs," Keyes said. "Everything we provide is by donation."

The two groups have worked together to bring this event to fruition and hope to make it a tradition that returns annually to the Basin.

Dinner will begin with cocktails at 4 p.m. and continue until 6:30 p.m. with the live and silent auctions beginning at 7 p.m. in the ATEC on the Big Bend Community College Campus.

Featured items for the auction include sports memorabilia and a chance to play a round of golf at Moses Pointe with four Seahawks Sunday, April 30 at 8 a.m.

There is a $20 entry fee for the auction that will be refunded to those who purchase an auction item. Photos with Alexander are $20.

Dinner tickets are $60 for children 14 and under, $100 for singles and $150 for couples. Seating is limited. Tickets are available at Deb Grazer's office in Moses Lake from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the door the evening of the event or in advance by contacting Mike Keyes at (509) 346-2628, (509) 760-6216 or Nita at (509) 762-9779 or via e-mail at [email protected].
