Dennis Latimer, the head girls basketball coach at Flathead High School for the past 10 seasons, will not have his coaching contract renewed.

The announcement came during Tuesday's school board meeting at Flathead High School.

"It's an unfortunante ending to his coaching career at Flathead High School," said FHS activities director Mark Dennehy.

Dennehy said Latimer's name was not on the hire list for the 2006-07 school year.

Dennehy said the school will begin an immediate search for a replacement.

Latimer has 23 years of coaching experience. He was an assistant at FHS for two seasons before taking over as head coach. He guided the Bravettes to two state championships - 2000 and 2002 - along with third and fourth place finishes.

Flathead finished the 2005-06 season with a 17-7 record and a trip to the state tournament.

Latimer won two state Class B state girls basketball titles at Troy in 1992 and 1993 before moving to Flathead High School.

"I've said my piece with the school board," said Latimer.

"And I just wanna move on."
