Officers seized 100 pounds of pot near St. Ignatius last week in one of the biggest busts in years. The street value of the confiscated drug was estimated at $640,000.

The seizure took place Aug. 1 in Lake County.

Northwest Drug Task Force agents received assistance from a multitude of local government officials that led to the discovery and seizure of the marijuana. The Northwest Drug Task Force agents credit the assistance of the Flathead Tribal Police, Lake County Sheriff's Office, Tribal Fish and Game, Tribal Fire Control, Mission Police Department and Federal Homeland Security for the success of the seizure.

An investigation still is under way by the Sheriff's Office, task force and tribal police.

Salish Kootenai police Chief Craig Couture reminded the tribal council that there is more work to be done as the meth problem and an increase of prescription-drug abuse is on the rise.
