William "Bill" Prentice, 75, of Libby, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.

He was born July 24, 1931, in Bay City, Mich., to Edward and Dorthea Prentice. He was raised and educated in Michigan.

Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He had been a painting contractor in Phoenix, Ariz., for many years until his retirement. He came to Libby in 1997 where he had since resided.

Survivors include his wife Ruby of Libby; three daughters, Billie, Patty and Pamela, all of Mesa City, Ariz.; two sisters, Loretta Dunning of Mesa, and Katie Warmbier of Michigan; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Pat Whitefield of Libby.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at the City of Libby Cemetery.

Nelson & Vial Funeral Home handled arrangements.
