Knock on door ends with gunshot
MOSES LAKE — A 16-year-old Moses Lake male answered a knock on the door of his Sunset Drive residence only to be shot early Tuesday morning.
Moses Lake Police Captain Jim Jenkins said the victim received a small-caliber gunshot wound to the upper chest and is listed in stable condition at Samaritan Hospital.
The suspect reportedly knocked on the door and fired a single shot before fleeing the scene. Jenkins said a motive remains unknown, but investigators are suspecting gang activity.
“We don’t have a lot of information yet because the victim is being treated for the gunshot wound,” said Jenkins. “He is telling us he doesn’t know who the suspect was. The victim was really in shock. I’m hoping when he gets past the critical medical part, he remembers more.”
Police are seeking information on a suspect described as a male Hispanic, 18-22 years old, medium build with a shaved head and a short pony tail known as a “rat tail.” Anyone with information is asked to call the Moses Lake Police at (509) 762-1160 and contact Detective Juan Loera.
