Betty Viola Scott, 83, of Paradise, "went home to heaven" Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Clark Fork Valley Nursing Home in Plains after an almost seven-year battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Concrete, Wash., the daughter of Alva Free and Alice Elizabeth Walker. In June 1928, the family moved to St. Maries, Idaho, where Betty graduated from St. Maries High School.

Betty married Robert Leroy Scott on Jan. 2, 1942. They lived in St. Maries as well as North Richland, Wash., before moving to Kila in 1949. They had a cattle ranch in Kila until 1974. During that time, Betty also worked in several restaurants in Kalispell. In 1974, they moved to Arkansas and then finally to Paradise in 1993, due to Robert's ill health.

Betty had a very strong faith in God. She was always helping others however she could. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, and making quilts. Most of Betty's quilts were given away to people in need of bedding.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Nancy Diesen (and husband, Carl), of Plains; a granddaughter, Debra Howard (and husband, Robert), of San Antonio; and step-great-granddaughter, Brianna; one brother, Alden, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; and two sisters, Freda Marsh of Delta, Colo., and Jessie Haken of Eagle River, Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert; and a brother, Fred.

We all know Betty would worry about what to do with the flowers, but she would be quite pleased with donations for Christ's sake.

Services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the Clark Fork Baptist Church in Plains ,with viewing one hour before the service. Burial will be at Plains Cemetery.
