Edith N. Schultz passed away Feb. 25, 2006, in Whitefish. She was born June 8, 1918, one of 13 children of John A. and Anna (Olsen) Lien, in Alden, N.D., a town her father established. She lived in North Dakota until her parents passed away, and then moved to Seattle where she worked as a household manager and for Western Electric.

During World War II she was an undercover agent for the FBI and traveled extensively on assignment. In 1945 she relocated to Montana and married Edward G. Schultz. They resided in Smith Valley, where they raised two children, and Edith was active in school, church and community projects.

In 1962 the family moved to Columbia Falls, where for a time Edith worked at the Montana Veterans Home. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making children's toys and quilts. She loved music, gardening, and taking care of her home and animals. She was a special soul who was much loved and will be missed.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 11 siblings.

She is survived by her son, Gary E. Schultz, and daughter, Janice K. Schultz, both of Columbia Falls; brother, Walter Lien, and his wife, Nellie, of Albany, Ore.; sister-in-law, Margaret Howard, and her husband, Don, of Kalispell; and several nieces and nephews. At her request, no services are planned.

The family is grateful for the loving caregivers at Colonial Manor Nursing Home and the Professional Center in Columbia Falls. Any memorials received by the family at P.O. Box 518, Columbia Falls, MT 59912, will be forwarded to Edith's favorite charities.
