Spring Prairie Center has another tenant: Famous Dave's.

The barbecue restaurant recently finalized an agreement with Denver-based Goldberg Properties Inc., developer of the retail center on U.S. 93 North.

Famous Dave's will be built in front of Lowe's.

Construction may begin as early as this summer, said Mark Goldberg, president of Goldberg Properties.

Spring Prairie is built on land being leased from the state Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.

Greg Poncin, the state's Kalispell unit manager, said deals with other stores and restaurants are in the works.

According to Poncin, in the next two years, Kohl's, PetSmart and Starbucks are expected to come, along with two more restaurants: either Red Robin or Old Chicago and either McDonald's or Taco Bell.

Goldberg wouldn't confirm any of these but said his company is negotiating with other businesses. Some of these deals may be finalized soon, he said.

Goldberg also recently signed a deal with the Flathead National Forest to build an office just south of Glacier High School on Stillwater Road. About 115 people are expected to work at the new site, which will replace the supervisor's office in south Kalispell and the Tally Lake district office in Whitefish.

Groundbreaking for the forest offices will begin next summer and Forest Service employees will move in at the end of next year.
