Four Columbia Falls youths have qualified to compete in the Montana State High School Rodeo after this weekend's district rodeo in Kalispell.

The qualifying rodeo was Saturday and Sunday at the county fairgrounds and they toughed it out through some pretty wet weather.

Four of the six riders from Columbia Falls will head on the state-wide high school rodeo in Helena. Rachel Thomson placed second overall in pole bending with a time of 21.85. Shane McCaffree placed third in calf roping with a 22.18 time and second place in team roping with 32.84.

Kari Moran-Patton and Sarah Ham will also advance to the finals.

Abbey Johnson also had excellent rodeo runs in barrel racing and competed in the pole bending as well in her rookie season.

The state high school rodeo finals is next week, June 21-25, in Helena.
