MOSES LAKE — The drug and tactical response team arrested a 21-year-old Moses Lake man Wednesday afternoon, following the suspect's apparent sale of an allegedly stolen rifle to an undercover detective.

Waymond Survell Turner Bay, who is suspected in numerous burglaries, a robbery and an assault on a police officer, was arrested after authorities exercised a search warrant on his apartment in the 6000 block of 32nd Avenue N.E.

Turner Bay initially fled the apartment through a ground floor window as members of the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team made their approach. He was swiftly taken into custody in a vacant field just east of the apartment building after a brief foot pursuit.

He was booked into Grant County Jail.

According to the Grant County Sheriff's Office, Turner Bay has an extensive criminal history of alleged burglaries, robberies, suspicion of unlawful possession of firearms and a number of assaults. He is also wanted on several outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court.

The search warrant executed Wednesday was the result of undercover work and investigation by authorities who believed they had identified a subject who was allegedly selling stolen firearms.

The undercover detective was able to purchase one large bore rifle. The money used to buy the allegedly stolen weapon was recovered by authorities after Turner Bay's arrest.
