Rose M. Schroeder, 89, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born 12 miles north of Glen Ullin in Mercer County, N.D., to Henry and Dorothea (Mormon) Holler on Aug. 23, 1916. She was baptized in St. Clemen's Church at Haymarsh, N.D.

In 1919, the family moved to a new home, six miles north of Glen Ullin. Rose attended St. Clemen's School and graduated from the eighth grade. The family then moved in 1936 to Grassy Butte, and in 1938 to a home five miles east of Grassy Butte.

Rose worked at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1937 to 1938. In 1942, she worked for Adolph Ruffler and while there met the love of her life, John Schroeder, who was a fellow employee. They were married in June 1943.

During the early years of their marriage, they were employed by Tony Zurn and Roy Lillibridge until 1949. In 1949, they moved to their home on Montana 40 between Columbia Falls and Whitefish. Rose and John had two children, Alvin and Marlene. Later, in 1971, they moved to Kalispell; then to Marion, where they lived on their son's farm; and then back to Kalispell, where they lived in the Two Mile Drive Apartments.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years; her parents; three brothers, Albert, Leo and Andrew; two sisters, Philomena and Annie; her son-in-law, Cliff Struck; and twin granddaughters, Shirley and Angie.

She is survived by her son, Alvin Schroeder, and wife, Marian, and their son, Jared, and her daughter, Marlene Struck and her daughter Shelley, all of Kalispell; a brother, Clem Holler, of Great Falls; a sister, Mary Hecker, of Butte; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Rose will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Peter Ramseth officiating. Burial will be afterward in the Glacier Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Home Bratsberg Wing, 185 Crestline Ave., Kalispell, MT 59901.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is caring for Rose's family.
