Bond is set at $250,000 for one of the people arrested last week in a cocaine seizure in Kalispell.

William Solymanbeyk, an Iranian, is charged with criminal possession with intent to distribute drugs, accountability to criminal possession with intent to distribute, accountability to use or possession of property subject to criminal forfeiture, and use or possession of property subject to criminal forfeiture. In all, he faces as long as 60 years in prison.

Deputy County Attorney Dan Guzynski said bond was set so high because Solymanbeyk is not a U.S. resident.

He was arrested April 27 with four other people after officers Nate Vannoy and Tony McDonnell stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at about midnight on First Avenue East.

According to court documents, John Simanek and Fred VanDyken were inside the vehicle that was rented in California. Neither produced identification.

VanDyken gave permission for the officers to search the vehicle. They found a "snort tube" and a slashed tire with about $4,000 inside it.

Also in the vehicle was a map with Solymanbeyk's name, detailing routes of travel from Modesto, Calif., to Kalispell.

The men were staying in two rooms at the Red Lion Inn that were reserved by Solymanbek. A search of the rooms turned up $3,400, a half-ounce of methamphetamine, and cocaine.

On the same day, detective Lt. Roger Nasset saw Solymanbeyk having an argument with Jacob McDonald and Ashley Scarff of Kalispell. Nasset saw drug paraphernalia in the items McDonald carried, documents show. He obtained permission from Scarff to search her personal belongings and found a pound of cocaine inside her purse.

"Scarff and McDonald then started to cry. They both stated that the drugs were Solmanbeyk's."

Found inside McDonald's Nissan was about $3,500, according to the criminal complaint.

Scarff, 21, is charged with possession with intent to distribute drugs. McDonald, 29, is charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute, possession of drugs, and use or possession of property subject to forfeiture.

Simanek, 38, of Modesto is charged with possession of dangerous drugs.

VanDyken, 49, of Modesto is charged with possession with intent to distribute, two counts of use or possession of property subject to forfeiture - scales and cash - and possession of drug paraphernalia.
