Dorothy D. Smith, 80, of Libby died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

Dorothy was born May 4, 1926, in Poplar to Charlie and Clarice Gilman Damson. She was raised on a ranch near Poplar and graduated from Poplar High School in 1944.

She met Walter Smith in Wolf Point, and they married on Dec. 10, 1945, in Glasgow. They ranched for a number of years near Poplar. In 1967, they sold their ranch and moved to Libby where Walter worked on the Libby Dam.

Dorothy's husband and a son, Wally, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children Gail Munro and her husband, Jay, of Libby and Tony Smith of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a brother, Harry Damson of California; grandchildren Andy, Ross, Tandee and Valerie; and seven great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held.

Local arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
