No arrests made

MOSES LAKE — A truck stolen from the Moses Lake/Grant County Humane Society animal shelter was found Thursday, hidden behind a farm building outside of Moses Lake.

The truck was parked behind a building on agricultural property at the intersection of Four

Northeast and M Northeast, at roughly 6:30 p.m., according to Moses Lake Police Capt. Jim Jenkins.

"The building sets back off of M, I'm going to say 75 yards, and the truck was behind the old building," said Jenkins. "It wasn't visible from the road."

The property owner found the vehicle and reported it to the Grant County Sheriff's Office. Moses Lake Police took possession of the vehicle and processed it for evidence, as they are conducting the investigation of the April 16 burglary of the shelter, Jenkins said.

The truck was not damaged and the keys were inside the vehicle, he noted.

The vehicle was stolen when the shelter was burglarized and the keys removed from a cookie jar. Entry to the shelter was made through a hole cut into the chain link fence surrounding the facility, then by kicking open a door.

A computer and printer were stolen, the office ransacked and an unsuccessful entry attempt was made on a safe containing veterinary drugs.

No animals were injured or stolen from the facility during the burglary.

Jenkins said the investigation continues and no arrests were made in connection to the discovery of the truck.
