QUINCY — Two people are presumed drowned in the Columbia River, 12 miles west of Quincy near Crescent Bar.

Vicki Lynn Lervick, 46, of Marysville, and Jose Abraham Flores Torres, 22, of Quincy, were last seen going under the water after Torres reportedly fell off the back of a boat, according to Grant County Sheriff's Office Chief CriminalDeputy John Turley.

Witnesses told law enforcement Torres fell into the water and could not swim. Lervick dove into the water to save Torres. In an attempt to save himself, he reportedly became uncontrollable, noted Turley. Torres was described as being in a panic struggle as both went under the surface of the water.

Grant County Search & Rescue assisted by the Douglas County Marine Patrol are searching the river to recover the bodies, said Turley.
