No one injured in Moses Lake incident

MOSES LAKE — A man was arrested Saturday morning after firing a gun on West Basin Street.

Lance D. Otis, 21, Soap Lake, was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, drive-by shooting and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

When Otis arrived to a residence on Basin Street to meet a friend, three to four men surrounded him, Moses Lake Police reported. Otis allegedly fired a .45 caliber pistol and the men fled. No one was hit with a bullet.

"It appears that he shot them in the air," Capt. Dave Ruffin said.

The investigation revealed the incident began with an argument over a female, he said. It does not appear to be gang related.

It is unclear how many shots were fired but five empty casings were found at the scene.

Once Otis shot the pistol, he allegedly fled toward his residence in Soap Lake.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office captured Otis on his way to his residence and detained him until Moses Lake Police took custody.

A search warrant was obtained for Otis's house and vehicle.

Police found the pistol alleged to be used in the shooting, ammunition and marijuana.
