MOSES LAKE — Quilters at the Moses Lake Senior Center are getting ready to bring homemade quilts to the Ronald McDonald House in Spokane.

Ronald McDonald House provides housing for families of children who are ill.

"They do a good service, and there's been several children from Moses Lake, their parents have been there," said quilter Pat Reents.

The trip, on Aug. 24, is one donation of several the Creative Cutups quilting group conducts throughout the year. Members meet Fridays at 1 p.m. out of a room at the senior center, working with donated fabric, sewing machines and furniture.

They donated to Habitat for Humanity, Fort Lewis Fisher House, the Moses Lake Senior Center, and New Hope Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services.

Even after donating quilts to several organizations, the group has 31 more waiting to be delivered to organizations that can benefit. Many of the quilts are going to Ronald McDonald House, Reents said.

Creative Cutups member Darlene Horst said the group donated quilts to the Ronald McDonald House for approximately four years.

"A lot of the newer girls haven't been there, so that's why we're going to take the senior center bus," Horst said.

Reents said members of the public wishing to donate quilts to Ronald McDonald House can bring them to the Creative Cutups group meeting at the Moses Lake Senior Center.

The Moses Lake Senior Center is located at 608 E. Third Ave.
