Two men arrested

MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake police stopped a green 1992 Ford Explorer Sunday on Third Avenue after running the license plate and finding it was stolen in Spanaway, Wash.

Police questioned the two men in the vehicle and arrested Eric Kessasck, 18, Tacoma, and Meshell Thomson, 31, Tacoma, for possession of stolen property, according to Moses Lake police Capt. Dave Ruffin.

Thomson was also arrested for a warrant from Pierce County for possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana, a warrant from Thurston County for failure to appear on charges of his license being suspended in the third degree, and one from Pacific County for failure to appear and comply with charges of driving with a license suspended in the third degree. Thomson also had a warrant from Pierce County for charges of forgery.

Further inspection of the vehicle prompted police to obtain a search warrant.

Police found several pipes for marijuana use, checkbooks, checks and assorted mail from roughly 30 victims, Ruffin said. Some recovered checks indicate at least one victim is in Moses Lake.

"They haven't gone through it all. There was some checkbooks, checks sent out, bills, title information … all from a bunch of different victims," he added.

The Moses Lake Police Department encourages citizens to mail payments at the post office or make payments electronically, rather than leave payments in mailboxes.

Ruffin said officers continue to investigate as they work through the gathered mail.

Anyone with information about the stolen mail is asked to call the Moses Lake Police Department at 509-766-9288 or 509-766-9230.
