Jody Alene Smith, 46, died tragically at her home in Hungry Horse on Dec. 9, 2007.
Jody is now "with the Lord" and will be greatly missed by her family and all her "Canyon" friends whom she considered family. She was well-known for her generosity, love and caring for so many around her.
Jody loved to sew and was especially known for the pillow quilts she made for family and friends. She also made her quilts and donated them throughout the Canyon. Jody loved her home in Hungry Horse and Montana but she will be laid to rest, in peace, in Spokane.
Jody is survived by her only child, Joe Putman of St. Marie's, Idaho; mother, Marie Leming of Medical Lake, Wash.; sister, Linda Stahl of Peru, Ind.; brothers, Jim, Jerry and Danny Leming, all of Medical Lake, Wa.; and Bob Leming of Bend, Ore.; sister, Diana Milich and her husband, Dale, also of Medical Lake; nephews and nieces, Marcus, Carly, Lucas, Josh, Zach, Shiana and Bryce; and all her "Canyon" friends.

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
