Marie Risdal Brevik Folkvord, 90, passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2007, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home.

She was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Carpio, N.D., the third daughter to Hans and Malena Haaland. After high school she went to Minneapolis and worked as a nanny.

The fall of 1939 she married Jorgen Risdal; he preceded her in death December 1943. She attended Business College and worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company in Minot, N.D.

In March 1948 she married Archie Brevik and they farmed together in Lower Valley until his death in 1967.

She was employed at Valley Bank of Kalispell for approximately four years.

In September 1972 she married Ted Folkvord from Sidney. They continued to live on the family farm in Lower Valley and spent 10 years wintering in Arizona. One year, in their retirement, they visited Norway. Marie moved from the family farm in 1998 to Kalispell to shorten her trips to and from Immanuel Lutheran Home where Ted lived his last five and a half years. She was a great caregiver to each of her husbands. During the time Ted lived at Immanuel Lutheran Home she volunteered, playing the piano at the Bratsberg Wing, as well as for other functions at the home.

She had been a member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Somers since coming to the area in 1948. She was the treasurer for many years and played the piano, several years ago, for church services.

She is loved and dearly missed by three children - Joreen Graves and her husband, John, of Kalispell, Gerald Brevik and his wife, Linda, of Lower Valley, and Arlene Pierce of Stayton, Ore.; stepchildren, Howard Leland and his wife, Marilyn, of Fort Myers, Fla., Melvin Leland and his wife, Luella, of Squaw Gap, near Sidney, Helen Danielson and her husband, Russ, of Fargo, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Ellen Hornberger, of Berthold, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands; and sister, Rachel Sandberg.

Private family graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Somers with Rev. Wayne Pris officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Eidsvold Lutheran Church, 5935 U.S. 93, Somers, MT 59932; or Hospice, 175 Commons Loop, Suite 100, Kalispell, MT 59901.
