Added X-ray machine

ROYAL CITY — Royal City is getting a new clinic in March in the same location as a former clinic.

The clinic is located at 103 Camelia St. N.W. Moses Lake Clinic is providing staff support at the office, which is a branch of Wenatchee Valley Medical Center.

The Clinic at Royal City was located at the same address. The new clinic is called Royal City Clinic.

The opening was originally scheduled for Feb. 1, but it was delayed due to remodeling schedules and staffing difficulty, said Moses Lake Clinic Administrator David Olson.

Royal City Clinic is going to be open Monday through Friday. On Thursdays, a family practice physician is at the office in addition to a mid-level provider. Olson said the clinic continues to seek a mid-level physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join the office.

Even with a provider in place, the clinic could not have opened by Feb. 1 because of remodeling, Olson said. Improvement projects include new carpet, tiling and paint, new walls and a modification of a bathroom for wheelchair accessibility. Remodeling should be complete by mid-February, he added.

A registered nurse who worked at Moses Lake Clinic is providing support for the clinic. Jana Gonzales is now able to work in Royal City, where she lives, Olson said.

"She has worked here at the clinic for a number of years in Moses Lake," he said.

The state approved plans which include space for an X-ray machine. The Clinic at Royal City did not offer X-rays, Olson said. The machine should arrive this month, but the state still needs to approve the clinic's request to perform the X-rays.

The hospital nearest to Royal City is Othello Community Hospital, about 25 miles away. Hospitals in Moses Lake, Ephrata and Quincy are 40 to 50 miles away from Royal City.

Olson said all the services available at Moses Lake Clinic are not going to be available at Royal City Clinic.

"More than what there was, but maybe not everything people would like right away," he said.
