QUINCY — Next week Congressman Doc Hastings reaches out to his constituents in Quincy.

Hastings holds a town hall meeting Monday to provide an open forum for area residents to share their views and ask questions about issues impacting Central Washington and the nation.

The meeting takes place at the Quincy Community Center, located at 115 F Street S.W., from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public.

"Congressman Hastings routinely holds town hall meetings in communities in Central Washington for two reasons," Hastings spokesperson Jessica Gleason explained. "One, to update his constituents on work in Congress, but perhaps more importantly, to listen to their concerns and find out what's on the minds of the people he represents."

Gleason anticipates questions on agriculture from the Quincy community, with Congress expected to renew the Farm Bill this year. Water is also a concern, she noted.

"Generally at these meetings we hear a wide range of issues, everything from health care and the economy to Social Security," she said.

Gleason said Hastings enjoys holding the sessions, the majority of which are devoted to taking questions from the audience.

"An important part of his job is listening to what's on the minds and daily concerns of the people in central Washington," she said.
