Two arrested, charges pending for five more

MOSES LAKE — Information from a citizen tip led to the arrest of two people and recovery of stolen firearms Friday by the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies recovered the stolen firearms, ammunition and arrested an adult and a juvenile near Moses Lake in connection to the stolen property. Five more people are expected to face charges.

Christopher James McCarrell, 20, Moses Lake, was arrested for burglary in the first degree, five counts of theft of a firearm, five counts of possession of a stolen firearm, five counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, three counts of trafficking in stolen property in the first degree, vehicle prowl in the first degree and malicious mischief in the third degree. He is also wanted by the Department of Corrections for a parole violation, Chief Criminal Deputy John Turley reported.

A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested for burglary in the first degree, five counts of theft of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, vehicle prowl in the first degree and malicious mischief in the third degree, Turley added.

The two subjects were located behind a residence on Arnold Drive, four miles northwest of Moses Lake, according to Turley.

Performing the arrests was the regional Tactical Response Team, which is comprised of emergency medical service workers and several law enforcement agencies in Grant County.

"A total of seven people were charged in the recovery of the stolen firearms with one booked as a juvenile and the other booked into Grant County Jail," Turley noted. "The other five subjects were not booked but will face possession charges, as they will be charged through the prosecutor's office."

Hundreds of rounds of ammunition were recovered as well as a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, a .44-caliber Magnum Ruger Blackhawk revolver, two 20-gauge shotguns and a .50-caliber black powder muzzleloader rifle.
