Aircraft lands without incident

GRANT COUNTY — A Boeing 777 landed without incident at Grant County International Airport last week after declaring an emergency.

The Port of Moses Lake public safety department received notification of the inbound plane, Thursday at about 2 p.m. from the airport tower, department Chief Robert Crozier said.

The 777 declared an emergency, indicating they had a leading edge flap problem.

Five Boeing employees were on board. Once they were safely on the ground, Crozier said, the issue was no longer an emergency.

The aircraft taxied to the refuel ramp and remained on the airport property Friday afternoon. Crozier said Boeing is going to retrieve the plane once it is repaired.

"We probably get an inbound aircraft emergency once a month," Crozier said. "Fortunately, the vast majority of time, the aircraft lands without incident."
