Vivian Joy Hoye, 91, went quietly and gracefully 'into the hands of God' on July 9, 2007, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell. She was born on Dec. 1, 1915, in Opheim, to Harvey Lyman and Harvine Rose (Cookson) Moothart. She spent her youth in eastern Montana, mostly around Opheim, Culbertson and Froid.

She married Alfred M. Hoye on June 29, 1934 in Froid. They lived in Froid and Culbertson until moving to Columbia Falls, in the summer of 1946.

Family and home were very important to Vivian. She enjoyed family gatherings and was a wonderful homemaker, cook and baker. She always enjoyed her roses and gardening.

She was a founding member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls and a current member of Calvary Lutheran Church. For many years she was a member of the LaSalle - Birch Grove - Half Moon Club (home demonstration unit). She was a volunteer for 15 years at Kalispell Regional Center and was an active volunteer at the Immanuel Lutheran Home since 1992.

As mother, grandmother and matriarch of this family, she will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred M. Hoye, in 1994; one son, Morton Hoye, in 1996; and one grandson, Henry M. Hoye, in 2000. Also preceding her were her parents, one sister, and three brothers.

She is survived by her son, Ron Hoye, and his wife, Anita, of Kalispell; son, Art Hoye and his wife, Lue, of Columbia Falls; daughter, Susan West and her husband, Bob, of Columbia Falls; a son, Adrian Hoye and his wife, Nancy, of Missoula; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Hoye of Veneta, Ore.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Betty Osborne of Denver; three sisters-in-law, Beverly Hoye of Froid, Jean Barr of Bismarck, N.D., and Adeline Moothart of Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Vivian will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, at Calvary Lutheran Church on LaSalle and Evergreen. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Johnson Mortuary. Burial will be private by the family.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to Calvary Lutheran Church, 2200 U.S. 2 East, Kalispell, MT 59901.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is caring for Vivian's family.
