MOSES LAKE — Calling all young ladies who are interested in playing for a newly-established, tournament-caliber softball team.

The Moses Lake Rattlers plan to begin play next spring under the guidance of coaches Camron Bishop and Aaron King. Bishop will head up the 12-and-under team with King leading the 10-and-under group. The younger segment has already received interest from 20 girls, meaning a second team will likely be added to fill the need.

Bishop emphasized the Rattlers will not play in the local recreational leagues but focus on tournaments. The program hasn't set an exact date for its first tryouts, though Bishop said they will occur during the latter part of August or early September.

"What I had was a lot of girls out there who wouldn't play for the established teams," Bishop said when asked why the Rattlers were founded. "What I'm doing is getting them out there together and playing again.

"I'm basically just trying to get the best girls on the same team and help out softball in Moses Lake," he said.

The Rattlers will begin competition in the spring of 2008. For more information on tryouts, contact Bishop at 509-750-8225 or King at 509-361-3177.
