Rianda 10th in goat tying

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Lexy Rianda of Kalispell is holding down 10th place in goat tying at the National High School Finals Rodeo.

Rianda, the Montana state champ in that event, turned in a time of 10.254 Sunday during the first go-round on the opening day of competition.

Kelsey Moore of British Columbia leads with a time of 8.38.

Rianda will compete in the second go of goat tying on Saturday.

The top 20 in all events advance to the finals Saturday night.

Rachel Thomson of Columbia Falls will compete in pole bending on Tuesday and Thursday and barrel racing on Wednesday.

Shane McCaffree of Columbia Falls will compete in team roping on Wednesday.

All three are members of the Flathead Valley High School Rodeo Team.
