Laura J. Angstman, 87

Laura J. Angstman, 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at the Brendan House in Kalispell, following a brief illness. She was born on Oct. 29, 1919, at Dagmar, the daughter of Jake and Dagmar (Andersen) Petersen.

Following graduation from high school, she continued her education at Northern Montana College in Havre graduating with a teaching certificate. She then taught in a one room school house north of Chinook.

Laura married Jess L. Angstman Jr., on June 25, 1941, in Havre. The couple had two children.

Laura worked for over 28 years in the parts department of Angstman Motors, Inc., the Chevrolet Dealership in Havre. Following the sale of their business, Jess and Laura spent a lot of time at their cabin in Beaver Creek Park south of Havre. They were great entertainers and had many close friendships.

Laura was very active and never really retired. Following her first retirement, she went to work at Wells Fargo Bank in Havre in the safety deposit box and escrow departments retiring, at the age of 79.

Laura moved to the Flathead Valley in the fall of 2003 to be closer to her daughter, Darlene Dowen. She was cared for by the staff at Prestige Assisted Living and she loved all the people there and enjoyed visiting with everyone. She was a very energetic lady and never missed a party or bingo game. Her years at Prestige were full of happiness, friends and family.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jess L. Angstman Jr.; several sisters and brothers; and her grandson, Elio Tait Angstman.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Dowen, and husband, Jim, of Bigfork; her son, Jess "Tab" Angstman, of Florence, Colo.; two grandchildren, Todd Dowen and wife, Terri, of Kalispell, and Pam Sundene and husband, Eric, and their son, Mitchell, of Renton, Wash. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ann Jambo,r of Kalispell; and sister-in-law, Peggy Angstman, of Spokane; and many loving nieces and nephews and their families.

Memorial services for Laura will be held in Havre at a later date.
