Local Babe Ruth teams take spotlight on Thursday

ELLENSBURG — Three Moses Lake teams and two Othello teams will try to sew up spots in the Babe Ruth Baseball state tournament when the District 5/7 Championships open Thursday.

In the 13-year-old division, Moses Lake begins round-robin play against Eastmont at 6 p.m Thursday. Moses Lake plays again Friday against Wenatchee, a 3 p.m., start, and finished the round robin Saturday versus Ellensburg at 9 a.m. The top three teams qualify for state.

Moses Lake's 14-year-olds open at 6 p.m. Thursday against Ellensburg. Round-robin play continues Friday at 3 p.m. versus Wenatchee and Saturday at noon against Eastmont. The top two teams in the bracket advance to state.

Othello's 14-year-olds play two early games on Friday, against Wenatchee at 9 a.m. and against Eastmont at noon. Othello finished round-robin play Saturday at 6 p.m. against Ellensburg.

The 15-year-old division has Moses Lake and Othello play in a double-elimination format for one of three seeds to state.

Moses Lake plays at 3 p.m. Friday against Okanogan Valley, while Othello takes on Ellensburg later that day at 6 p.m. Depending on the first game's outcomes, the teams would play again Saturday or Sunday.

All games take place at West Ellensburg Park, 1200 W. Fifth. The complete schedule is listed below:
