Moses Lake Museum and Art Center offers free family Saturday activity

MOSES LAKE — This weekend, avid bird watchers get a chance to see a rare species in its natural habitat.

That exotic plumed delight, the finger puppet bird, puts in an appearance as part of the Moses Lake Museum and Art Center's monthly Family Saturday program.

Children visiting the center between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday can create their finger puppet bird out of construction paper, pipe cleaners and "those little googly eyes," Ann Golden, Moses Lake Museum and Art Center curator, said.

Golden said the bird-building activity's been offered for a few years now.

"They're pretty much the children's imagination," she said.

The program allows people to see what the museum has to offer.

"The children get to do a nice, quick little activity and what's nice is it usually makes people aware of our programs," Golden said. "It's nice to get people who we've never had before and they get excited about the museum."

The center is located at 228 W. Third Ave., in Moses Lake. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and admission is free. For more information, contact the center at 509-766-9395.
