MOSES LAKE — The Lady Chiefs took care of business in the singles matches, but were swept in doubles play in losing to visiting Eastmont 4-3 Thursday.

Nikki Chambers led the way for Moses Lake in singles play, winning her number one singles match by a 6-0, 6-0 score over Molly Mayer.

Charleen Johnson of Moses Lake won her number two singles match in straight sets, taking down Stephanie Lacey 6-3, 6-2.

In third singles, Megan Fredrick rallied from a first set loss to defeat Brittany Forney 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Becky Jones lost a very competitive match in fourth singles, falling to Eastmont's Brittany Dunn 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 4-6.

Doubles play did not go as well for the Lady Chiefs, as all three Moses Lake teams were beaten in straight sets. Emily Fry and Martha Fry of Moses Lake played the first doubles match, losing to Kayla Case and Chenzy Goble 3-6, 3-6.

Emily White and Breanna Kernan were defeated by Eastmont's Rebecca Chestnut and Hanna Waterhouse 2-6, 1-6 in second doubles, and Nanako Era and Rachel Goodrich of Moses Lake lost 4-6, 4-6 to Allison Lance and Lindsey Have in third doubles.

The Lady Chiefs move on to begin 4A Columbia Basin League play this Saturday at Walla Walla, with match time scheduled for 11 a.m.

Royal coach Ben Orth was aware as anyone of this possibility, and spoke to his team before the dual about staying focused.
