Two arrested, one recovers from gunshot wound

ROYAL CITY — The Grant County Sheriff's Office is looking for two men related to a Feb. 27 shooting in Royal City.

A group of five men attempted a drive-by shooting of an undetermined person in a suspected retaliatory attack. During the attempt, one of the suspects was reportedly shot in the back of the head by accident.

Jorge Roman Jr., 20, Othello, is sought for assault in the first degree with a deadly weapon and drive-by shooting, according to Grant County Sheriff's Chief Criminal Deputy John Turley.

Jose Alberto Ramos, 24, Quincy, is sought after for assault in the first degree with a deadly weapon and for drive-by shooting. Ramos allegedly shot a 26-year-old Tacoma man involved in the shooting attempt, noted Turley.

People with information on the location of Roman and Ramos are urged to contact Detective Messer at 509-754-2011, ext. 468, desk ext. 15.

Abel Torres Adame, 20, Othello, was taken into custody as a material witness to the drive-by shooting. Adame allegedly drove the late model Chevrolet Impala used during the drive-by, according to Turley.

Luis Miguel Cerna, 20, Othello, was arrested for assault in the first degree and for drive-by shooting.

All five subjects, including the victim, arrived at a residence on Balsam Street in the Impala to shoot at an undetermined person in a retaliatory attack, Turley reported. Ramos and the victim allegedly exited the vehicle.

The victim reportedly stepped out of the vehicle as Ramos allegedly began firing his weapon, he said. As he exited, one of the shots hit the victim in the back of the head.

The victim was pulled back into the vehicle and the group allegedly fled Royal City eastbound on state Route 26 to Steele Road, five miles southeast of Othello, Turley reported.

Torres Adame and the victim were located by law enforcement near the intersection of SR 26 and Road A Southwest, four miles east of Royal City, after exiting the Impala.

The victim was flown to Kadlec Hospital in Richland due to the gunshot wound to his head.

Turley said the victim's condition was listed as critical and fragments of the bullet are lodged in his skull. He was released to family and his condition is unknown at the time, Turley noted.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related, he added.
