Mae H. Chorney, 87, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2007, in Kennewick, Wash.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 2, at Kayser's Chapel of Memories with Pastor Floyd Wilks officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.

Mae was born in Hood River, Ore., on March 16, 1920, the third of nine children born to William E. and Mae Alma (White) Petri.

She was raised and educated in Hood River, graduating from Hood River High School in 1939. She married Harry Chorney 45 years ago in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They made their home in Moses Lake where they owned and operated the Lakeshore Motel. The couple retired in the early 1980's and have enjoyed traveling together since.

Mae was very active in the community. She was a member of the Holiday Ramblers, The Teton Club, and the Grant County Cattle Women's organization. She also served as president of the Soroptimist club.

Mae enjoyed gardening, traveling with her husband, and growing flowers. She also enjoyed growing food and donating that food to the food bank and senior center.

She is survived by her husband, Harry of Kennewick; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Carol Chorney of Kennewick and Jim and Kim Cloe of Arlington, Ore.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Lee Byrd of Galt, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Donna Petri of Ilwaco, Wash.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Verda Hart of Hood River, Ore., and Glenda and Jim Salisbury of Nehalem, Ore.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by five siblings, Norman, Herbert, Gordon, Kenneth and Lauragene.
