CLE ELUM — The Royal Knights golf teams capped a resoundingly successful South Central Athletic Conference season on Wednesday.

The Knights' boys and girls teams, each of which had already won regular-season league championships, swept the district championship team titles at Suncadia Golf Course.

Royal's boys scored 75.5 points, 11.5 in front of the second-place Naches Rangers. Joe Perkins was the Knights' low scorer, notching an 82 for second among individuals. Four of the five Knight golfers in attendance made the cut of 104 and qualified for state tournament play, May 22-23 in Bellingham.

Along with Perkins, D.J. Solis qualified with a 10th-place effort of 97. Trevor Iverson shot a 100 for 11th place and Eric Spartveit was 13th with a 102. Derek Mathews failed to qualify, finishing 22nd with a 114.

The Lady Knights had a similarly impressive performance, with four of their five district competitors heading to state.

Shelby Forester finished second at 101, with teammates Laura Perkins (third at 104), Alyssa Presgraves (sixth at 110) and Erin Argo (tied for seventh at 113) all making the cut of 122. Royal's Katreena DeLay was in 22nd place with a 137.

Warden's boys were seventh in the eight-team field, scoring 27.5 points to defeat Cle Elum (7.5). Ben Bisnett and Chance Buck both qualified for state by shooting a 104, right at the cut line. Chris Kalous just missed with a 105.

Warden's girls were last in the six-team field with 16.5 points, a half-point back of fifth-place Naches. But Kim McPartland shot a 113 for seventh place and will represent the Lady Cougars in Bellingham next week. Jena Whitney (16th at 132) and Lizeth Rodriguez (17th at 135) both failed to qualify.
